The moon is continuously shrinking the Earth’s only satellites. This makes wrinkles like a human face on its surface. NASA has given this information in a report published on Monday after studying the photos taken from her Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO).
An analysis of more than 12,000 photographs came out. It has been found in the study that there is a rift in the Moon Basin ‘Mare Frigoris’ near the North Pole of the Moon and it has also been eroded from its place.
One of the many huge basins, the ‘Mare Frigoris’ of the Moon is considered a dead place with a geological perspective. As with the earth, there is no Tectonic plate in the Moon. Despite the fact that the tectonic activities are found here, the scientists are shocked. Scientists believe that such activity in the Moon occurred 4.5 billion years ago in the process of losing energy. Due to this, the surface of the moon becomes wrinkled like a mustache or a jasmine. In this process earthquakes occur on the Moon.
Scientists believe that due to the process of losing energy, the Moon has gradually shrunk to about 150 feet (50 meters) from past larks. Nicholas Chemher, a geologist of the University of Maryland, said that there is a great possibility that geological activities that have taken place millions of years ago are still going on.
